FARMERS UPDATE 25/12/20

Latest developments - with 25 updates. Thursday 25th Dec : Be Informed, Be Active.


1. Bhagwant Maan holds banners and shouts slogans in favour of farmers as Modi walks past. 

2. Huge contingent of farmers with approx 500 trolleys from Bazpur and other areas of UP has reached Hapur. They had to use a tractors to break through barricades. Delhi isn’t very far now. 

3. Barricades installed at Shahjahanpur border. The farmers have been sitting at this border for 13days and it was decided to move to Delhi today. Containers and barricades are installed on the highway making it more or less like Singhu and Tikri. 

4. India's prime minister releases $2.5 billion as part of a program for small farmers continuing a monthlong protest against new farm laws. It’s sounds like a lot of money, but works out to £60 per farmer for losing their generational land. It’s part of divide and rule policy to show public that Modi is for the farmer. 

5. NDTV show a lot of this money gone into accounts which have no link to farmers. 

6. Modi, Amit Shah and Rajnath, all speak at rallies today to convince BJP workers that they are with farmers. 

7. Narendra Modi to address farmers from 6 States today. These are states that are not protesting as farming is so low in them states. Observers say it’s just divide and rule and photo ops to convince middle class that modi is trying to solve the situation. 

8. The borders Singhu, Pyau Maniri, Palwal, Tikri, Chilla, Shahjahanpur remain closed. 

9. Protests continue in Punjab in all cities and villages. 

10. Uttar Pradesh Farmer leader Rakesh Tiket said to a large rally in UP - ′′ The people of the Mandhir are also having Gurdwaras langar, they should also plant bhandara! (Open they money accounts and give food to protestors). Mandhirs have more money, so why are they not feeding the protestors too. The people of UP are shouting Vaheguru ji ka Khalsa Vaheguru ji ke Fateh. He continued to say where are the Pundits to support the farmers? If they do not come, we will remember and they will get treatment for that. 

11. Villages Panchayats have now cut power to 200 Jio mobile towers belonging to Ambani in Punjab. 

12. A seven member committee will be formed to make plans for talking to Centre. The committee includes Darshan Pal, Rajewal, Gurnaam Chaduni, Yogendra Yadav and Shiv Kumar kaka among suggested names.

13. Due to govt holidays over next few day’s, no formal meetings to be held, so farmers will spend more day’s in icy cold. 

14. In Jallundhar, the protesting farmers who were doing gherao of BJP Punjab ministers were lathi charged. 5-7 farmers are injured. Scenes of BJP workers being chased off and police attacking sikhs. 

15. Today in Bathinda, the Farmers gave a blow to the BJP. Beaten in the bazaar, the BJP men fled leaving tents and belongings

16. Latest to join the protests is the cloth industry of Punjab. 

17. Opposition parties under joint consortium of 11 parties have issued a statement against the untruths spread by govt.

18. Farmers continue the sit in protests at Gurdaspur railway station, Bathinda, Amritsar, Tarn Taran and all major junctions.

19. 100 more tents installed at Ghazipur border. 

20. Haryana locals bring another tanker of milk to the protest.

21. Bhagat Singh’s Nephew Abhay Singh Sandhu have joined farmer protests against new farm laws at Singhu border.

24. Many Gursikhs traveling between Delhi and Fatehgarh sahib so they can be giving due respect to Sahibzade. 

25. Sikhs around the world remember Bibi Harsharan Kaur who gave Shaheedi as last shaheed of Chamkaur Sahib as she did cremation of elder sahibzade and Gursikhs.
