Sikhi Game of love- LOCKDOWN…

LOCKDOWN...

There will be a national lockdown starting from 5th November in the UK!

As a Sikh and a human, what are our duties to ensure everyone is okay physically and mentally?

It is very important in the coming months, that we all take as many precautions as possible. It’s important that we try not get close to too many people with flu like symptoms, as the last thing we want to do is spread it to anyone or our loved ones. It’s the time of year where many are affected by illness. Precaution from any illness should be kept in exactly the same way as precaution should be kept for covid. Hygiene in general is a must at all times, just as our Guru’s have always taught us.

Many people die from flu, mental health illnesses, pneumonia, smoking and drinking annually. As humans, we need to take precaution at all times and not only in this pandemic.

9,500 children just in the UK, are admitted to hospital from secondhand smoking and many thousands die from it annually.
480,000 people die from smoking in the US and 41,000 deaths from secondhand smoking annually.
78,000 people die from smoking in the UK annually with many thousands of lives being affected by illness in general.
95,000 people die annually from alcohol related causes in the US, yet cigarettes and alcohol are not being prohibited.

Around 17,000 people die from flu every year in the UK. 30,000 are dying from pneumonia.
There are 8 million deaths from mental illnesses each year, globally, which should be concerning us massively in this unprecedented time. 800,000 people are dying from suicide affected by depression annually.

These are very concerning facts!

A lot of the Covid spread is coming through schools and universities, yet they are to remain open in lockdown. This defies all logic!

In this extremely testing time, we need to be spreading positivity, love, care, compassion and kindness. We should try and avoid watching the news and accessing Covid related social media platforms, as this will only cause the mind to become very weak and negative. There’s a huge difference between making someone aware of an illness and absolutely terrifying them daily, weekly or constantly. This will only lead to stress, depression and anxiety.

Let’s try our hardest to do all we can as humans. Let’s support those that need help, support and guidance. Take time to call/face time your loved ones, your neighbours, the elderly around you. Laugh as much as you can and let’s enjoy our time with our families. These times may never come back again in our lives. We need to be very strong and positive through them, not just for our family and our loved ones but for everyone we can reach out to. As a Sikh, let’s make it our duty to spread that love to all.

There is a lot of scaremongering going on! Most people who are getting symptoms are getting them very mildly or maybe getting no symptoms at all. If anyone is being affected, it’s more those with serious heath issues or the very elderly. The sad reality is, these people would get affected by any illness and any virus. Of course, we have to avoid any-type of virus spread and prevent our vulnerable being affected, but let’s not get too extreme and caught up about it all and lets definitely not let it affect ours or others  mental health.

At some point, we have to sit back and have faith in the higher power and think that what will be, will be in the will of God.

Life and death comes to all of us. We will all go at some point. Let’s go by helping someone. Let’s go by being a shoulder for someone. Let’s go by being strong for someone. Let’s go by giving to someone and let’s go by supporting the world through positive, spiritual wisdom, because at this moment in time, it’s the largest service that is needed from every human.

Be precautious but don’t be scared! Be positive and don’t be negative! Don’t let this weak mind make our mental and physical state weaker and for us to be attacked and affected by viruses and illnesses.

We are all here to spread love, compassion and wisdom to the world. Let’s do it together and let’s watch us all be healed as one universal creation of God (Vaheguroo).

Let’s keep our minds positive and occupied through meditation on God’s name and by practicing God’s virtues!
Positive energy is a saviour! Let’s spread it!

Guru Amardas Ji Says,

“Dhookh rog santhhaap uthrai sunnee sachee Baani.”
Pain, illness and suffering has departed listening to the pure, positive and spiritual wisdom of the Guru (God).

Guru Arjan Dev Ji Says,

“Janam janam ke dookh nivaarai sookhaa man saadhaarai
He dispels the pains of countless incarnations and lends support to the dry shrivelled mind.

Darshan peatath hoth nihaalaa har ka Naam beechaarai
Beholding the blessed vision of his Darshan, one is enraptured contemplating the Name of God.

Meraa baidh Guru Govinda
My true doctor and physician is the Guru and the lord of the universe.

He places the medicine of Naam meditation in to my mouth and cuts away the noose of death.

He is the all powerful, perfect God; the architect of Destiny; He Himself is the sort of good deeds.

Vaheguroo himself saves his slave; Nanak himself takes the support of Naam meditation.”

Vaheguroo!
